Negotiations in YTN Universities of Applied Sciences are stalling

YTN, OAJ and Sivista have been negotiating the collective agreement for universities of applied sciences since 30 January 2026 (follow the negotiation situation here). The current agreement is valid until 31 March 2026.

Collective agreement negotiations continued today, Friday 20 March. In the negotiations, Sivista, representing the employers, presented its comprehensive proposal, which included elements that would weaken employees’ terms and conditions of employment and did not take into account any of the proposals put forward by the employee side.

In the negotiations, YTN is aiming for a salary solution that emphasizes a general increase and supports purchasing power, as well as improvements to the terms of employment and the position of employees. So far, no proper discussions on salary increases have taken place, as the employer side has focused on proposals that would weaken employment conditions, which has delayed the negotiations.

Because Sivista is firmly holding on to its objectives that weaken employment terms and conditions, the negotiations are challenging. However, we will continue negotiations immediately next Monday, 23 March.
