YTN, Tietoala ry, and Technology Industry Employers of Finland have negotiated a new nationwide collective agreement for the IT service sector. The agreement comes into effect today, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, and applies to the employees of the member companies of the Technology Industry Employers of Finland.
Approximately 23,000 employees are covered by the nationally binding collective agreement for the IT service sector. Many non-unionized companies have also announced that they will comply with the IT sector collective agreement. The agreement is valid until November 30, 2027. However, the last year can be terminated by either party.
Primarily, salary increases are negotiated locally every year. If no local agreement is reached, the “fallbacks” of the collective agreement are used. The total salary increases for the agreement period are 7.8%, of which the general increases account for 5.0%. The cost impact of the salary solution follows the so-called general line.
According to the fallbacks, this spring all employees covered by the agreement will receive a 2.0% salary increase in May, calculated from the monthly salary in effect in April, including fringe benefits. In addition, the employer will allocate a 0.5% salary increase from the company’s April salary pool to selected individuals.
The salary increases according to the fallbacks are distributed in 2026 and 2027 as follows: general increases of 1.5% for all employees each year, and employer-allocated increases of 1.4% and 0.9%, respectively. The fallbacks are the same as the salary solutions agreed upon by YTN for the technology industry and the consulting sector.
There were no major changes to the texts of the collective agreement. The most significant change is that it is possible to agree locally on the payment of a Sunday work increase or its amount differently for church holidays falling on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Based on the local agreement, the employer and employee can agree to transfer regular working hours cost-neutrally to a day off according to the working hour system.
