Technology industry

Largest sector in Finland

The technology industry is Finland’s biggest sector. Its main sectors are the information technology, the electronics and electrotechnical industry, the mechanical engineering industry and the metals industry.

Approximately 200,000 employees work in the electronics and electrotechnical industry, the mechanical engineering industry and the metals industry. YTN represents approximately 60,000 senior salaried employees, superiors and experts in the sector. The collective labour agreement is the country’s second largest industrial collective labour agreement.

YTN’s contracting party in the collective labour agreement is the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries. The collective labour agreement of the senior salaried employees is generally binding, which means that also the unorganised companies of the employer unions must comply with the terms and conditions of the agreement.
