Construction industry

Approximately 3,220 persons work in senior salaried employees’ jobs in the construction industry (the salary statistics review by the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK)). The most important sectors are building construction (approx. 1,500), the construction product industry (approx. 850) and civil engineering (approx. 340).

YTN has concluded a cooperation agreement with Rakennusteollisuus RT (the Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT) concerning senior salaried employees, the aim of which is to promote the cooperation between construction industry companies and their personnel.

There are three collective labour agreements concerning salaried employees in the industry, which are under the name of Trade Union Pro. The Confederation of Finnish Construction Industries RT signed the agreement of the salaried employees in the construction industry for the employer side. The agreement applicable to the senior salaried employees in the building material and concrete industry is also made between Pro and RT. The collective labour agreement for the salaried employees in the building services sector was concluded between Pro and TIKLI (Tieto- ja tekniikka-alojen työnantajaliitto).

Senior salaried employees do not yet have a collective labour agreement in the construction industry. Since there is no collective labour agreement, the employment terms has to be based on the legislation in force, the employment contract and the employers’ practices. Senior salaried employees and salaries in the construction industry

  • The average age is 38 and the proportion of persons under 30 is larger than what is the average in YTN.
  • Approximately a half belongs to management or middle management.
  • Longer working hours than on average
  • Every third is not compensated for overtime work.
  • More travel days than on average
  • More than a half is not compensated for the work-related travelling time.

Agreements concerning salaried employees

There are three collective labour agreements concerning salaried employees in the industry, which are under the name of Trade Union Pro.
